After raising their series A, I joined Blue Belt Technologies as the 8th employee in 2009. I started there is a Mechanical Design Engineer, working with surgeons and designing instruments and implants for OR use/human implantation as we built the Navio Surgical System.
Eventually, I stepped into a Project Management role and experienced for system-level issues, bug tracking, root cause analysis, and complex configuration management. Additionally, I worked with Surgical Navigation, 3D scanning and tracking software, and electro-mechanical systems all tracking real time.
Products. have brought to the OR have now been used on 15,000+ patients. Applications of the technology include Total &Partial Knee Arthroplasty, Hip Arthroplasty, Femoral Acetabular Impingement (FAI), and Neurosurgery/ENT.
Ultimately, the company was acquired for $275 million by Smith & Nephew in 2015 when we had approximately 125 employees.
